Sleepy Spell is designed with children's privacy as the top priority. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. We use privacy-first analytics to improve the app experience.

2. Information We Don't Collect

Sleepy Spell does not collect:

  • Your child's name or personal information
  • Advertising identifiers or tracking data
  • Location data
  • Photos, contacts, or device data
  • Any data that could identify your child

3. On-Device Processing

All AI story generation happens on your device using on-device machine learning. Stories are stored locally in the app sandbox and never transmitted.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Sleepy Spell is fully compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

  • No accounts are required to use the app.
  • Your child's name is stored only on-device and never transmitted.
  • Age range is used only for anonymous, aggregated analytics (never linked to any identifier).
  • No personal data about your child is ever collected or shared.
  • Analytics are fully anonymous and cannot identify individual users.

5. Microphone Access

Microphone access is only used if you opt into the voice cloning feature. Audio recordings are processed and stored entirely on-device. They are never transmitted to any server.

6. In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not process or store payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs transaction data.

7. Data Storage

All app data — including stories, preferences, and profiles — is stored in the app sandbox on your device. Deleting the app removes all data permanently.

8. Third-Party Services

Sleepy Spell uses the following privacy-respecting services:

Anonymous Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. TelemetryDeck:

  • Does not collect personal information or device identifiers
  • Does not track users across apps or websites
  • Is fully GDPR and COPPA compliant

We collect anonymous, aggregated data about:

  • App usage patterns (e.g., which themes and tones are popular)
  • Feature usage (e.g., story generation, playback modes)
  • Age range preferences (never the child's name or personal details)
  • Subscription events

Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)

We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports when the app encounters errors. This helps us fix bugs and improve stability. Crash reports include:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version and crash stack traces
  • No personal information or story content

Other Network Calls

The app also makes network calls for:

  • Initial AI model download (one-time)
  • In-app purchase verification (handled by Apple)
